º Kevin Martin of Edmonton, AB defeats Kerry Burtnyk of Winnipeg, MB to win the
men's Final of the Canadian Curling Trials.
The Martin team of third Don Walchuk, second Carter Rycroft, lead Don Bartlett,
alternate Ken Tralnberg and coach Jules Owchar will now represent Canada at the 2002
Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah in February , when curling once again will
be an official medal sport, as it was for the first time in 1998 in Nagano, Japan.
º The Kelley Law team, representing New Westminster, BC, won the women's Final on Saturday
and will also represent Canada at the Winter Olympics.
º The Olympic Curling Competition will take place at The Ice Sheet in Ogden, Utah, from
February 11-22. Ten men's and ten women's teams will compete.
