Subject: 2001 Canadian Curling Trials
CANADIAN CURLING TRIALS COMPETITORS CONFIRMED
OTTAWA, June 4...The Canadian Curling Association (CCA) announced
today that the 20 qualifying teams for the 2001 Canadian Curling
Trials, scheduled for Regina, Saskatchewan December 1 - 9, have all
confirmed their participation.
The teams had been given a deadline of June 1 to sign the required
waivers and participation agreements and all 20 teams have now
submitted the necessary documents.
The Trials will determine the men's and women's teams which will
represent Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City
next February. The Regina Agridome will host the Canadian Curling
Trials, as 10 men's and 10 women's teams will battle it out in a
round robin competition, with the top three teams advancing to their
respective playoffs.
The first place teams will receive byes to the finals, while the
second and third place finishers will meet in semi-finals. The
four-rock free guard zone rule will also be incorporated for the
Trials.
