Manitoba (Carl German of East St. Paul) defeats Ontario (Bob Fedosa of Brampton), 4-2 to
win the 2002 Canadian Senior Men's Curling Championship at the St. Thomas Curling Club.
It is the first Senior Men's title for Skip Carl German, Third Ray Fillion, Second Ray
McDougall and Lead Brian Copeland. It is also a record tenth title for Manitoba (1965,
1973, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1991, 2001) since the competition began in 1965.
Manitoba, skipped by Gary Ross, won last year's Senior Men's Championship in Calgary as
well.
The East St. Paul Curling Club team will now represent Canada at the first
officially-sanctioned World Senior Curling Championships, which will take place April
7-12 in Bismarck, North Dakota, in conjunction with the 2002 Ford Worlds.
