FORD HOT SHOTS ENTERS SEVENTH YEAR
February 13, 2001... The Ford Hot Shots, a curling skills competition
offering each winner a new 2001 Ford Taurus SE, is set for its
seventh consecutive year at both the Scott Tournament of Hearts in
Sudbury and Nokia Brier in Ottawa.
The shot-making competition requires curlers to execute six shots:
Hit and Stay, Draw the Button, Draw the Port, The Raise, Hit and Roll
and Double Takeout. Each shot will be awarded points, on a scale
from 0-5, rating the success and intent of each.
Ford of Canada will provide the winner of each Ford Hot Shots
competition with a new 2001 Ford Taurus SE, valued at approximately
$27,120 (MSRP).
The Ford Hot Shots consists of a preliminary round, final eight,
semi-finals and final. All curlers (four per team can compete,
including alternates) are eligible. Sweeping (qualifiers can select
two sweepers) will be permitted, beginning with the final eight.
For the Scott Tournament of Hearts, being played at the Sudbury Arena
from February 17-25, the preliminary round is scheduled for 1:00 pm -
4:00 pm ET, Friday, February 16. The playoffs are on Saturday,
February 17 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm ET.

March 3-11, the preliminary round will be held Friday, March 2 from
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm ET. The playoffs will be on Saturday, March 3 from
11:30 am - 1:00 pm ET.
In addition to the Ford vehicles as prizes for the winners, the
second place finishers receive 52" RCA Home Theatre Series stereo
projection monitor-receivers, valued at $2,500, while the third place
finishers will be given 32" RCA models, with a retail value of $1,000.
