PEI (Suzanne Gaudet of Summerside) wins the Karcher Junior Women's Final over SK
(Stefanie Miller of Shellbrook).It is the first Canadian Junior Women's title for Prince Edward Island (Bill Jenkins
won a national Junior Men's title in 1976) since the championship began in 1971 and
the first Canadian crown for Skip Suzanne Gaudet, Third Stefanie Richard, Second Robyn
MacPhee and Lead Kelly Higgins. Last year in Moncton, Gaudet and her teammates lost the
Karcher Junior Women's Final to Miller.The Gaudet (pronounced Good-ee) team will now represent Canada at the 2001 World Junior
Curling Championships, March 15 - 25, in Ogden, Utah, U.S.A. Canada has won a leading
six World Junior Women's crowns since the event began in 1988, the last by Melissa
McClure in 1998 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
