Men
NF (Brad Gushue of St. John's) wins the Karcher Junior Men's Final over MB (Mike McEwen
of Brandon).It is the first Canadian Junior Curling Championship for Newfoundland, since the Men's
competition began in 1950.It is also the first Canadian title for Skip Brad Gushue, Third Mark Nichols, Second
Brent Hamilton and Lead Mike Adam. Last year, Gushue, Nichols and Adam were the runners-up
at the 2000 Karcher Juniors, losing the final in Moncton to British Columbia (Skip Brad
Kuhn) in an extra end.Gushue also sets a record for the most number of career wins by a Skip at the Canadian
Junior Men's, 38, eclipsing Ontario's John Morris' mark of 33. He also was making a record
sixth appearance and fifth as Skip at this year's Karcher Juniors.The Gushue team will now represent Canada at the 2001 World Junior Curling Championships,
March 15-25 in Ogden, Utah.

The Karcher Junior Women's Final will be played at the St. Catharines Golf and Country
Club, between SK (Stefanie Miller of Shellbrook) and PEI (Suzanne Gaudet of Summerside).
